I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask but you are welcome to move my post.

I've heard and read on the web that Iran issued plastic keys to to (child) soldiers during the Iran-Iraq war. Keys to the gates of heaven or so. I'm looking for a trustworthy confirmation like a first hand witness or even better a picture. I've been looking around like crazy but I find only people that have heard about it. I have even asked Persian friends but the same result, they have heard about it but not more.

Anyone have good source to confirm or to confirm that it is not true?

I read the whole story and with the grate respect that I have for Tarmac , I just could say that never heard of or saw such that Keys before Hans, It sounds more to be of Iraqi propaganda during the war time with Iran and to be honest with you, if I seen or heard something like that you be sure that I would have be first to open it to the world , But let me say my own experience regarding the condition on the Shalamcheh front line during operation K.8. Well it was about middle of the operation (May be day 4 or 5) and a blood shade was already in progress from the morning just south west of fish lake. About noon time I received an order to take ammo. and supply for two IRGC T-55 and they give one young guy to me to guide me to the position of tanks ,so as a bad experience had of last night young guide(which I will give his story on Iran-Iraq ground war thread later) I did not talk to him much ( be consider I was also on my 20th) and was little tired so not take the guy seriously and as loading completed asked my co-driver who was an old man called Haj Fallah to get the information of him and Cone me on the way to the position, some where east of Basrah but on the west of fish lake and on my way as I was passing a cut in the mine filed I saw an unarmed young Basije who was wondering there clearly dizzying without any reason so I thought "On my way back I will catch him and take him back with myself" so passed from him and we find two Tanks just stopping in north-south direction, one on the aft of the other on the right side of the road waiting for me, I passed them and stop in line of them and ordered to unload but as had experience I remained on my seat inside my Khashayar and the crew of tanks and mine become busy with discharging and I was fingering my radio to get contact to my base, Suddenly my co driver called me and asking me to come out and watch , I came out and , Oh my god I saw a Toyota full of the bodies of our solders, Basije, IRGCs which you can identify from their uniforms and como. clothing which unit they belong, put on top of each other as wood logs and the van driver and his aide trying to cover their load by some blankets ,some of the bodies were so fresh and still bleeding that you could feel they were alive few minutes earlier, so I feel bad and shout them to finish it quickly and also my men to finish and , I want to leave the area so few time later I was on my way back to the base but as I reached the cutting on mine field , I saw the shattered body of the same young Basijei ( who I saw on the way) laying on the mines and I could not to stop to collect his body and passed him with the tears in my eyes as I felt "I could have saved him" Its my fault , but I told to myself I could not endanger the life of T55 and my crew . So I get backed to base and parked BTR50 it was evening time and the sky become red on the west horizon , I was standing in front of entrance of my trench watching the sun set and one IRGC cadre noticed my sadness and said " It is a beautiful sun set isnt it? I replied unwillingly that "so many of friends today saw the sun rise but didnt see its setting" the Pasdar guy said what do you mean and I told him I mean nothing But he insist that You mean something and He is going to report that and will ask them to put me in court Marshall by being anti war, I told him whatever you like to do , but get clear off me because something bad may happen to him. Need not to say that he was actually done what he was saying and after the operation ends someone from IRGC military court come to me and asked abut my argue with the same Pasdar boy, I told him the story and he leaved me unharmed. Sorry to make this long story but you be sure the "keys to the haven" story is only a propaganda made by enemy or west , I admit that some were so young which could not figure what the real war is and were thinking that it is a game and on the end of the day every one will go home safe and sound ( Which is the other story of me and a very young BMP driver called TADDAYON I will post later) and Tarmac your grand papa may be mistaken it by some grenade shape plastic money boxes which where given at the time to school kids to donate money for helping to defend the country.
