Tack!

Land, typ, namn, hemmabas?
Bryggpartiet ser ju betydligt modernare ut nu.Remarks: Reportedly was laid down in 1981 and launched by 1983. Laid up in 6-88, shortly after completion, she may never have operated in her original configuration; major modifications were completed 15-8-92, after which she made several Mediterranean cruises. A planned second unit does not seem to have been laid down. The ship was offered for sale in 2-93 but remains in commission. Has elaborate flag/head-of-state accommodations. The original Romanian type designation, Destrugator (Destroyer), was changed to Fregate (Frigate) in 3-01. Based at Mangalia.
Hull systems: When advertised for sale, was said to be all-diesel, but one source indicates that she has two Russian boost gas turbines, and another says that there are four propeller shafts. Although much topweight was removed during post-completion modifications, she retains excess topweight.
Combat systems: During the reconstruction, the four twin antiship missile launchers were repositioned one deck lower and the original tower masts were replaced by lighter and lower lattice masts in order to improve stability; in addition, the two quintuple-tubed RBU-1200 ASW rocket launchers were replaced by RBU-6000 launchers mounted forward of the bridge. Combat systems are mostly autonomous, without a central combat control center. Four radomes of differing sizes for probable EW intercept antennas are mounted on the foremast; these replaced the original Bizan’- series (Watch Dog) arrays. The manned SAM launchers flank the base of the foremast. The Garpun (Plank Shave) antiship missile target designation radar has its antenna mounted on the foremast; the device can also be employed as a passive receiver for target emissions.
During the 2000–2020 program, is to be given GPS navigation gear, an underway replenishment capability, and new communications equipment (including Inmarsat SATCOM); the radar and sonar systems are to be integrated with a combat data system, using a locally developed system employing commercial computers running a Windows NT program.

Remarks: Named in accordance with their order of reactivation. Offered by the U.S. on 1-1-01. Reactivation, refit, and transfer is to cost $760.8 million, with the first to be delivered during 2005 and the last during 2006. Even unmodernized, these ships are superior to the Sovremennyy-class destroyers acquired by China. Characteristics and equipment listed previously describe the ships in U.S. Navy service; they may be considerably altered during reactivation, including the substitution of Mk 41 vertical launch systems for the outmoded Mk 26 launchers. Permission to buy the ships was obtained from the legislature during 11-02, and the U.S. Navy notified the Congress of the impending sale on 24-11-02, with the ships to be delivered within 2–3 years for $875 million total; the Taiwan parliament, however, demanded a 15% cost cut on 20-1-03. To be transferred with the ships will be 148 Standard SM-2 Block IIIA and 32 RGM-84L Block II Harpoon missiles.
Hull systems: Had larger-capacity air-intake filter systems than the similar Spruance class in order to handle the dust and sand prevailing in the Persian Gulf area. Extensive use of Kevlar and aluminum armor raised their displacements by around 1,000 tons.
Combat systems: All four received the New Threat Upgrade improvements between 1988 and 1990 and are equipped with the Mk 14 weapons direction system. They also have the Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS), with Links 4A, 11, and 14. Two Mk 74 missile fire-control systems employ the two SPG-51D missile illuminators and the SPG-60 gun fire-control radar to enable attacking three aerial targets simultaneously; there are four SYR-1 missile telemetry receivers. The Mk 86 Mod. 5 gun f.c.s. uses the SPQ-9A radar for surface fire and the SPG-60 radar for AA fire. The Mk 116 underwater f.c.s. handles ship-launched ASW torpedo launching (and formerly ASROC ASW missile launching).
