Per-Viktor Widengren...

Hi forum,

I hope it's okay to post in English. I'm looking for as much information as possible about pre-war Swedish racing driver Per-Viktor Widengren. During the 1930's he was very active in the Scandinavian ice GP's with his Alfa Romeo, battling the Norwegian champ Eugen Bjørnstad. But despite a good overview of his victories, not even a place or date or place of birth can be found through google.

Who can help me out?

The "Who is who?" publication "Vem är vem? Stor-Stockholm 1962" gives the following info on Per Wiktor Widengren:

WIDENGREN, PER WIKTOR,
direktör, Sthlm, f i V Vingåker, Södermani l, 14/1/09 av grosshandl Per W o Wahlborg Öfverman. Textil- o konfektionsstud USA 28-29, Tyskl 30-31, verkst dir ab L & P Widengren Vingåker sed 32 (styr:led). -Delt sv o internat biltävl, vunnit finska Grand prix 32, Rämenloppet 33, polska Grand prix 34. - Hobbies: golf, bridge. Gift 45 m Brita Bredberg f 13, dtr t dir Bror B o Ebba Lindholm. - Barn: Per Viktor f 45, Lars f 47, Tomas f 49, Henrik f 52, Lennart f 54.

Which translates into something like:

Widengren, Per Wiktor,
Managing director, Stockholm. Born in Vingåker, county of Södermanland 14 januari 1909, as son of wholesale businessman Per W and wife Wahlborg Öfverman. Studies in textile and prêt-à-porter in USA 1928-29, Germany 1930-31, managing director in the company "AB L & P Widengren" in Vingåker since 1932. Has partcipated in Swedish and international car racing, won Finnish Grand Prix 1932, Rämen Race 1933, Polish Grand Prix 1934. Hobbies: golf and bridge. In 1932 married Brita Bredberg (born 1913, daughter to director Bror B and wife Ebba Lindholm. Children: Per Viktor (born 1945), Lars (born 1947), Tomas (born 1949), Henrik (born 1952) and Lennart (born 1954).

A search at gravar.se reveals that Widengren died 25 april 1976 in Austria and lies buried at a graveyard called Båstad Nya Kyrkogård.

Excellent! Thank you "Sarvi", this is a great start, I could not find such info anywere. Off course all additional information is most welcome

p.s.: I've checked the next page of the "who is who" but there seems to be no entry for his brother "Henke" Widengren. Any clue where to find info about him?

It would seem that his brother did not reside in Stockholm in the 60's, but ca be found in the 1965 edition of Who is Who for Götaland. The entry there gives the following info:

WIDENGREN, P L H (HENKEN),
direktör, Särö, f i V Vingåker, Södermani l, 20/6/10 av grossh Per W o Wahlborg Öfverman. Deläg, v verkst dir o styr :led ab L & P Widengren sed 36. Gift 42 m Margareta Lesslie f 19, dtr t konsul Otto L o Beatrice Kylander.

which roughly translates into

director, Särö, born in Vingåker, county of Södermanland 20 june 1910 as son of Per W and Wahlborg Öfverman. Partner, vice managing director and board of directors AB L & P Widengren since 1936. In 1942 married Margareta Lesslie, born 1919 as daughter of Otto and Beatrice Kylander.

Super! Through another forum I found his date of birth but this is much more detailed

BTW, I suppose from your earlier post the PW married in 1945? (not 1932). Any clue if and how the Widengren family could be approached for more details? No clue how to find the addresses of one or more of his sons.
