British decline

I en film om brittiska försök att få stopp på nedgången och öka tillväxten finns ett inslag som visar lite hur britter såg på Sverige.

[Historiskt reportage] – Ten years ago, one car in every three bought in Sweden was British. Today we've less than ten percent.

Now, that's a sad story. But lets take a quick sample. Here on this bridge in central Stockholm and see just what the Swedes are driving.

Well, there's a Swedish Volvo, a Swedish SAAB. That is another Swedish Volvo over there.. A Swedish Volvo.

[Michael Posner, economist] – One after another, other European countries, who we were used to thinking of – nice guys, but poorer, öh, began to get within shouting distance of us, and passing us, like being in a sailing race, and seeing people you didn't think were good enough or hadn't scraped the bottoms of their boat well enough never the less overhauling you.
